16 days left, 99 days complete. Falling into a rhythm in Cochabamba has been nice. Life has consisted of: daily class and guest lectures, site visits to farms and schools and water treatment plants, daily gym excursions, lots of bolivianos spent on aloe juice, quinoa cookies, and abundant snacks from the norte del marte, delicious bolivian food. Our home is walking distance from downtown and school and most things. We went to a fiesta last weekend at the home of an old homestay daughter of my bolivian family, she is from Colorado, and ultimately moved to bolivia and married a Bolivian. We have had many movie nights and laughs with our homestay sister. Almost forgot: went back to the hospital! Spent a week or so sick with typhoid but feeling mighty fine now. Typhoid is to SIT students is like the common cold is to infants. potentially problematic but in actuality, not a huge deal. One more week of school before final presentations, final papers and exams. After that we have a week of fun and relaxation and reintegration workshops in the amazon. looking forward to going home but excited to soak up the last moments here. Bolivia has been quite the contrast from the other two countries. Life here feels more real and less in a study abroad tourist bubble. Bolivia feels similar to the US in composition. Today we are headed to the biggest outdoor market in South America this afternoon, La Cancha. Additionally, there is a music festival happening the next two weekends, so we are headed to that tonight. Just some studying, coffee shops, meals and lots of walking, stand in the way of me and turning in my finals and concluding the semester! I cannot even imagine how I will begin to describe the depth of this experience and the amount of territory covered. And I also can’t think of how to succinctly and accurately answer questions about it. I guess I will find out soon.
